The farmers’ market is a partnership between Westfield Annapolis Mall and the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation. “Westfield Annapolis is a great location for Anne Arundel County citizens to access locally grown produce,” said Anne Arundel County Executive John R. Leopold. “I thank Westfield for their continued commitment to the Anne Arundel County community and our farmers for making their products available.”
“Westfield Annapolis is pleased to provide the venue for such a popular, well-loved resource,” said Scott DeGraffenreid, Marketing Director for Westfield Annapolis. “Commitment to community/local producers and broadening the range of goods and services available for our shoppers completely fits with our philosophy of being in the business of building businesses. The Farmers’ Market further enhances Westfield Annapolis’ dedication to creating destinations that combine the best mix of local, national, and international retail that responds to our community.”
The Westfield Annapolis Farmers’ Market is the third market to open this spring in Anne Arundel County. The market will offer bison, beef, pork, chicken, eggs, cheese, ice cream, early season bedding plants, potted plants, hanging baskets, spring vegetables, baked goods, jams, organic sprouts, herbs and herbal products, soaps, wool and pottery. We also expect to have strawberries and our first tomatoes of the season. The tomatoes are hothouse grown by one of our local farmers. Our markets are producer only markets, carrying only in-season products. As the growing season progresses, a much wider variety of fruits and vegetables will be available.
A Grand Opening Celebration is planned for Sunday, May 17th. There will be live music, face painting, and snow cones. Other special events, to include live music, cooking demonstrations and various educational demonstrations will take place at the market throughout the season.
